LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

The proper functioning of the lymphatic system is critical to our body’s ability to drain stagnant fluids, detoxify, regenerate tissues, filter out toxins and foreign substances, and maintain a healthy immune system. (Asdonk, 1970, Adrair & Guyton, 1982)

LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE THERAPY is a gentle therapy that supports or encourages the lymphatic flow and drainage.

The lymphatic system is a key component of our immune system.  Like the venous system, it is comprised of vein-like structures called lymphatic vessels. These vessels act as a vacuum to drain, cleanse and transport substances (i.e., bacteria, viruses, toxins, hormones, fatty acids, proteins) to lymph nodes.

If the lymph system becomes compromised or overwhelmed stagnation may occur resulting in swelling, fatigue, stress, infections, accumulated toxins and reduced cellular functioning.

If stagnation occurs and the system becomes overwhelmed, lymphatic drainage encourages lymphatic flow and helps the system regain homeostasis.
