THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

MASSAGE THERAPY…
Throughout the centuries massage has been used worldwide to enhance well-being and health. It is used during acute and chronic situations but is also beneficial as a preventative therapy.

Infants, moms-to-be, children, adults and even your furry friends may benefit from this therapeutic touch.

SWEDISH MASSAGE:  Usually when we think of massage we think of Swedish massage, a kneading and tapping of the muscles to help increase circulation.

But there are many other techniques that are used depending on what is needed.

DEEP TISSUE massage is more focused and tends to concentrate on areas of tension or pain.  One thing to take into account about pain…the area of pain may not be the source or cause of the pain perceived.  While exploring the area of complaint, it is important to take into consideration other structural changes that contribute to the pain pattern.

STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION is a way of seeing how our posture and body mechanics affect our ability to move efficiently in our body.  Many times there are focal areas that contribute to our pain patterns.  By paying attention to these fulcrums and helping release them through very specific bodywork, if is possible to change how we move.

Generally a massage session will incorporate a variety of modalities unless specified.

The benefits of massage may include:
    Stress reduction
    Increased circulation
Greater flexibility & range of motion
    Detoxification
    Increased body awareness
    Reduction of pain
