CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY (CST) …
is a gentle and powerful technique that works with the craniosacral system. This system is made up of meninges, or specialized membranes, and cerebral spinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. The in and out flow of the cerebral spinal fluid from the craniosacral system creates a rhythm that is reflected through the entire body as an expansion and narrowing. This rhythm is monitored to determine where there might be restrictions within the body and craniosacral system.
It is important that the craniosacral system remain free of restrictions because of its direct influence on the central nervous system (CNS) comprised of the brain, spinal cords and nerves, since it is ultimately the CNS that monitors the body’s homeostasis or well-being.
This is one of the therapies that follows for the body’s direction for self-healing. A subtle to firm touch is used to help the body unwind and reset. It may be used with newborns, infants, children and adults. It is also highly effective with prenatal and postpartum mothers. This therapy may be performed on a clothed person. I have found in my practice that CST is wonderful at changing our innate patterns that hold us in dis-ease.
