MASSAGE THERAPY... Throughout the centuries massage has been used worldwide to enhance wellbeing and health. It is used during acute and chronic situations but is especially beneficial as a preventative therapy. Babies, moms-to-be, children, and adults alike love massage. Usually when we think of massage we think of Swedish massage, a kneading and tapping of the muscles to help increase circulation and flexibility. Deep tissue massage though has also gained much recognition. It is a more focused massage that concentrates in an area of tension. Although not necessary, massage is generally practiced with a person who is unclothed but draped with a towel or sheet to protect the person's privacy, and usually a special massage oil or crème is applied. This oil or crème may include aromas to further enhance relaxation and healing.
